Taylor McDaniel – B.F.A. in Fine Arts.
Growing up, I always had a special place in my heart for drawing. I enjoyed imagining my own stories and characters, and loved bringing them to life in my sketchbooks. When I grew older, I continued to pursue that passion and graduated from Abilene Christian University with a BFA in Two-Dimensional Studio and a minor in Graphic Design. My focus was on drawing and painting with an emphasis in illustration.
I spent the next few years working as a package designer in Fort Worth, TX, before I felt the call to teach. I obtained an alternative certification from Texas Teachers to teach elementary students, and dedicated the next four years to teaching Kindergarten. Earlier this year, I made a few big decisions to transition out of full-time teaching for the time being and move to Austin, where I was lucky to stumble upon Art + Academy. I am so excited to combine two of passions, art and education, into one amazing opportunity!
I love to teach because I find so much joy in the amazing capabilities of learners. I do my best to be a constructive guide in my students’ journeys and to help them develop skills that will help them grow into strong artists.
