Matt Southworth – B.F.A. in Painting

I had the privilege of having amazing teachers in my life, the best of whom was my dad, who took me out landscape painting and drawing on the coast of New England when I was a kid. I graduated from Maine College of Art and Design, Portland ME.  Teaching is such an incredible opportunity to share moments of discovery with one another. As we develop our ability to create, we see the world in our own unique way; that is why I love to teach. I believe art opens many doors and helps people of all ages gain confidence in socializing, decision-making, and critical thinking. I can’t think of anything more important for the world right now than art.
