At ART+ Academy, we believe drawing and painting are skills anyone can learn—not gifts reserved for a chosen few. We’ve seen it happen thousands of times: with the right guidance, encouragement, and consistent practice, students of all ages discover that they can draw.
I started ART+ Academy in 2008 with just three students and a rented classroom. I wasn’t one of those people who could draw effortlessly as a child. I had to learn it step by step. What changed everything for me was learning the how: how to see shapes, how to break down a figure, how to build a drawing layer by layer. And I wanted to share that with others.
As students began to grow in skill and confidence, word spread. We opened our first little studio in 2009—a cozy 650-square-foot space with ceilings so low we’d hit them adjusting easels. But that space gave us something priceless: a home to nurture creativity.
We’ve grown a lot since then—new locations, more teachers, more students—but one thing hasn’t changed: our belief that drawing and painting are skills that anyone can develop. Our teachers are not only professional artists—they’re passionate mentors who meet each student where they are and help them move forward.
Whether you’re five or fifty-five, brand new or experienced, our goal is the same: to guide you in your creative journey, help you improve your skill, and encourage your progress every step of the way.
