My life has been dedicated to creating art. I earned a master’s degree in Fine Arts from the Savannah College of Art and Design and a bachelor’s degree in graphic design from Universidad Vasco de Quiroga in Morelia, Mexico. I am certified by the Texas Education Agency to teach art for grades PK-12.
Throughout my career, I have worked as a graphic designer and illustrator for newspapers, printing companies, advertising agencies, and publishing companies. Today, I am fortunate that my two jobs are my top favorite things to do: teaching art and painting in my studio.
I love teaching because it is incredibly rewarding to help a human being grow and succeed. In today’s world, creativity is an invaluable skill not only in the arts but in every profession, and I am honored to be part of my students’ creative journeys.
My greatest strength as an art instructor is connecting with each student to meet their unique needs while fostering a classroom environment where everyone feels valued. I believe that teaching is a multifaceted human activity for it entails a wide range of teaching approaches, interactions, planning, resources, but most importantly student motivation. Instilling art appreciation and creativity are always present in my lesson plans.
In my studio, I create surreal and realistic paintings using oil paint as my main medium, though I also enjoy working with graphite, acrylic, watercolor and other materials. My paintings have been part of numerous exhibits and festivals in Texas, Louisiana, Mexico, and Italy. I am also the author and illustrator of the children’s book, “Paty y los Payasos,” published in 2002 by Los Libros de El Nacional in Venezuela.
