When Cari first joined our adult art classes, she had already taken the brave step of trying to teach herself how to draw. Like many beginners, her early portrait was simple—just a starting point. But what stood out right away was her intention. In her own words:
With that mindset, Cari made consistent progress. After just a few classes, she began drawing portraits with correct proportions and a greater sense of confidence. She then shifted her focus to painting, especially with acrylics—using her own photos for inspiration and learning about composition along the way. As her understanding of color, shape, and light deepened, so did her artwork.
Eventually, Cari turned her attention to watercolor—a medium that now truly suits her expressive style. The pieces she creates today are not only skillfully executed but also full of personal voice and heart.
“I decided to start taking art classes as a form of self care. I knew as a busy mom and professional that I needed to have a dedicated weekly time to focus on learning and expressing myself artistically. Otherwise, art would always be the last thing to get my energy.”
Cari’s journey is a beautiful example of what happens when you carve out time for yourself, trust the process, and learn under the guidance of expert, supportive teachers. She reminds us that it’s never too late to grow as an artist—and that creativity, when nurtured, can become one of the most joyful and fulfilling parts of life.
“I’m so happy to have found this art school and community. It’s become so much more than a time placeholder in my week. It’s a wonderful opportunity to be with friends, get trusted guidance, boost my skills, and nurture my artistic drive.”
